Randwick Cottage Modernised

Cottage Modernised

The existing cottage house was a 3 bedroom cottage with a central hallway dividing the family and living space. The existing rooms were dark and had little connection to the large outdoor space. Additionally the client had  two small children the existing kitchen space was limiting and the rooms didn’t allow for much supervision during the kids play time.

The brief was to create an open living kitchen and dining space which connects to the outdoor space. The first floor extension allowed the all the bedrooms to be moved upstairs allowing. a good separation of public and private space within the house.

The new extension took consideration of maximising natural sunlight and the windows were designed to. Maximise ventilation allowing for passive heating and cooling of the house.

The new design of the façade allowed for a contemporary uplift of the existing house, whilst keeping the much loved traditional elements.
